EasyTAG Review
EasyTAG is a free audio file metadata editor software that allows you to easily view and edit tags in audio files. It supports MP3, MP2, MP4/AAC, FLAC, Ogg Opus, Ogg Speex, Ogg Vorbis, MusePack (MPC), Monkey's Audio and WavPack formats and works under Linux or Windows.
It offers more tag fields for editing than most other programs, including option not usually presented: URL, encoder name and attached picture. It also lets you search albums and artists within the application's interface.
In addition, it supports more than one tag format: XML and ID3 tags. Its UI is simple and pleasant to use.
Another nice feature is that it can process all filename fields in a tag, including filename, directory, title and album. This can be useful if you are tagging music that is not in the same directory as the source file.
Unlike many other tag editors, it can handle all types of audio tags, from ID3v1 to ID3v2 and even MIDI. This means it can handle tags for a wide range of different audio formats and can be used by any type of user.
Aside from tagging, the program can rename files and directories, process selected tags or load a text file to complete fields of the tag automatically. It can even save a copy of the tag.
This application is designed to be a simple and easy-to-use tagging utility for Linux. Its simple GTK+ interface makes tagging easier and faster. It can also work on other PC operating systems, so you can use it as a general-purpose tag editor.
